Taking place on Saturday 30 October 2010, Ironman 70.3 has arrived in Taiwan, with the launch of the newest event in the Asia-Pacific region. The inaugural Ironman 70.3 Taiwan race will unfold in the city of Kenting, on the southern tip of Taiwan.
The historic region of Kenting on the Taiwanese south coast is a vacation delight, encompassing a large national park and home to a variety of wildlife and a laid back atmosphere under the warm tropical sun.
The two-lap swim course takes place in the small bay of Kenting. After the swim, cycling and running courses take competitors along the coastline of Hengchuen Peninsula to visit the beauty of southern Taiwan.
Registration opens on Saturday 5 June (13:00 Taiwan time) at ironmantaiwan.com, with the early bird entry fee (until 30 June) at US$190 for individual entry, and US$280 for relay entry.
The Ironman 70.3 Taiwan event features 25 qualifying slots to the 2011 Ironman World Championship 70.3. The race is also an official qualifier for the 2010 Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship, held in Phuket, Thailand – the last-chance qualifier for the 2010 event.
