Ironman restructures China operations

World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), owner of the global Ironman and Ironman 70.3 event series, has confirmed that Hong Kong based EMAX Enterprises will play a broader role in the development of WTC’s event properties in the People’s Republic of China.

EMAX and its co-founders, Robert Vernon and Ji Dongning, led the launch of Ironman and 70.3 events in China. These have developed from concepts to major international events in just three years. WTC will now license the events to new operators in order to allow EMAX to develop new properties in China.

"Thanks to EMAX’s relationships and guidance, we have successfully established Ironman racing in China," said WTC Managing Director Asia Pacific, Murphy Reinschreiber. "Through the last five years, I’ve worked very closely with EMAX and understand the complexity and perseverance required to introduce a concept that was completely unknown, such as Ironman, to China.

“Throughout this process, Robert Vernon and Ji Dongning answered every challenge with grounded, long-term solutions. Rather than EMAX continuing to focus solely on our established Ironman races, we’ve reached an agreement for EMAX to essentially act as our business development arm in China and focus on our other brands such as IronKids and Iron Girl. This is the best use of EMAX’s talents given our future growth plans in China."

EMAX Enterprises Limited is a Hong Kong company with offices in Shanghai and Vancouver. Its mission is to facilitate bilateral business relationships with Chinese entities and to enable its clients to succeed in formulating and executing a sound China business strategy.
