LUNA Bar enters new phase for cycling apparel line

The owners of Clif Bar & Company and LUNA Bar, Kit Crawford and Gary Erickson, have announced the launch of LUNA Sport LLC, a start-up company dedicated to producing high-end women’s cycling and athletic wear.
"This is a dream come true and the next chapter in the LUNA story," said LUNA co-owner Erickson. “LUNA Sport is the official clothing sponsor of the LUNA Chix Pro Team, the world’s top-ranked women’s professional mountain bike and multisport team. LUNA’s pro athletes will use LUNA Sport garments exclusively beginning with the 2010 competition season.”
The LUNA Chix Pro team recently lined up at the Sea Otter Classic short track event clad in sparkling white, one-of-a-kind LUNA Sport kits. The tailor made apparel utilised ‘custom gold and silver reflective decals, popping with every photographer’s flash.’
All LUNA Sport products are developed with involvement from LUNA’s pro athletes, with a focus on ‘refreshingly tasteful, designs, with beautiful colour-blocking and subtle prints. The apparel uses recycled and natural-fibre fabrics whenever possible and minimizes wasteful packaging.’
"Over the past eight years LUNA Chix Pro Team members have won hundreds of races, become World Champions, set Ironman records, and competed in the Olympics. Their unmatched athletic experience enables us to develop, test and refine the most unique, authentic women’s cycling clothing available," said LUNA Bar co-owner Kit Crawford.
"We are committed to creating great looking and fitting, performance-driven clothes from a blank canvas; clothing for women who want to look and feel great on their bikes."
LUNA Sport will donate 1% of its annual gross revenue towards LUNA’s ongoing support of the Breast Cancer Fund. As part of that commitment, LUNA has donated more than US$3 million to the Breast Cancer Fund over the past 10 years through direct donations and fundraising programmes.
