Eurostar has announced that its new Eurostar Tri-City-Athlon will be held on 14 September – with Eurostar transporting the competitors by train between the cities for each leg.
The tri-city event will see triathletes swim in Paris, cycle in Brussels and finally complete the run leg in London to mark Eurostar becoming one of the 2012 London Olympic Games’ sponsors.
For a chance to win one of 20 places in the Eurostar Tri-City-Athlon, budding competitors should submit an entry on the event website. The competition is open until 9 June, after which the 50 most popular entries will go through to round two where the judges will pick the final 20 winners. Winners will be announced on 23 June 2010.
Applications are restricted to those able to swim 1.5K in 45 minutes, cycle 40K in 1hr 40 mins and run 10K in 1hr 10 mins.
The winner of the Eurostar Tri-City-Athlon on the day will be the person who achieves the shortest overall time across all three legs: swim, bike and run.
Eurostar, the high speed rail service connecting London with Paris and Brussels, has signed up as a third level sponsor of the 2012 London Olympics. Eurostar officials said on Wednesday that they expect to carry more than one million passengers from Europe to London during the Olympic Games in the summer of 2012.
