This July, Scott will be the proud sponsor of the Orobie SkyRaid, a skyrunning race with a challenging and exciting relay format. Three (single gender) athletes will compete along the track of Italy’s Sentiero delle Orobie, totalling 84K with 5,000 metres of vertical climbing.
The first part of the race is a SkyMarathon of 42K, the middle part is a 30K SkyRace and the final athlete faces a SkyClimbing 12K. The winning time over the three courses is estimated to be around nine hours.
In the 2010 edition, the Orobie Skyraid will also host the SkyRaid World Championship that the International Skyrunning Federation has given to Fly-Up Sport Organisation and its founder Mario Poletti – probably the strongest athlete in the Italian history of SkyRunning with the record of 8 hours 52 minutes set in 2005 along the complete track.
The SkyRaid World Championship is not only reserved for national teams; and in 2010 the race will host professional athletes alongside private and commercial teams. The Bergamo section of the Italian Mountaineering Club (CAI) will manage the course logistics and safety during the race.
In addition to providing kits for officials and volunteers, Scott will also communicate with runners. Beside a booth at the Orobie Expo, the Scott Promo-Truck will be used to present and promote the brand’s current collection.
