Speedo pushes its TriathELITE range onto UK stage

Leading swimwear brand, Speedo, has unveiled an intensive triathlon-focused programme for 2010 with a number of initiatives in the pipeline.
The company is reportedly launching TriathELITE a new triathlon dedicated product range. It has also pledged its involvement in an extensive event schedule and has recruited of a team of triathlon ambassadors including athletes and a panel of triathlon experts and coaches. Overall, the initiatives are aimed at positioning Speedo as a major force in the triathlon market.
Speedo’s acclaimed research and development team, Aqualab (responsible for major Speedo innovations including the LZR Racer) has created the TriathELITE hi-tech, high performance range of triathlon products for all levels of triathletes.
The three wetsuits in the TriathELITE range are the STR Comp, Pro and Elite versions, which are aimed at beginners, intermediates and pros respectively. Also in the range, The LZR Racer TRI Pro suit was created through a re-engineered version of the unique Speedo LZR Racer ‘Pulse’ fabric.
The range also includes wetsuits and associated products including goggles, caps, bags, towels and even a waterproof MP3 player.
The Elite wetsuit comes packed with swim-enhancing features such as LZR Racer compression technology, Yamomoto 5mm 39 cell neoprene and buoyancy panels. The LZR Racer TRI Pro suit claims to be ‘an unbelievable 42% lighter than the nearest competitor suit when wet, and 26% lighter when dry. It also dries up to twice as fast as the nearest competitor.’
Speedo is meanwhile working with triathlon experts including top professional ironman athlete Rob Johnson; experienced swim coach Dan Bullock (Swim For Tri) and leading triathlon coach Steve Trew (Triathlon Coach).
Speedo will be sponsoring over 55 triathlon events nationwide across the UK in 2010 and working with key triathlon event partners and organisers including IMG, Human Race, One Step Beyond and Pace Setter Events.
The Speedo team will be involved in all types of triathlons from grass roots to women’s only – over Sprint and Olympic distances. Key events Speedo will be involved with include: the London Triathlon, Blenheim Tri, the Dambuster Triathlon, Kids of Steel Series, Eton Super Sprint, Human Race Women only triathlon, Human Race Kids Scootathlon, Nokia Windsor Triathlon, The Outlaw Triathlon, Nottingham Triathlon and Club Relays.
