As part of a local Green Triathlon initiative, the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championships Grand Final in Budapest will feature several environmentally conscious elements.
The primary focus of the programme during the five-day event is to raise awareness of the interrelation of sport and environmental protection, while actively involving competitors, spectators, contributors and the media in various activities.
The Green Triathlon initiative strives to reduce the event’s pollution and waste production, as well as ensures recycling through selective waste collection and processing. Working in conjunction with its local and international partners, the event organisers are committed to utilising ecologically sensitive solutions such as community transportation, selective waste management, a deposit-return cup system, as well as a green expo (for further information exhibitors should e-mail greentriathlon@triathlonbudapest.com ).
ITU sees that the path is green for all, and encourages athletes, coaches and spectators to all join in the effort to minimise the footprint of the world championships in Budapest and beyond.
