USA Triathlon formalises relationship with VolunteerLocal

Thanks to a new agreement that will extend through the remainder of 2010, USA Triathlon (USAT) will partner with VolunteerLocal to organise its volunteer efforts at a trio of USAT national championship events in 2010.

VolunteerLocal, a web-based system that helps pair volunteers with athletic competitions, community festivals and non-profit events, will help USAT secure volunteers for three of its national championship events this year – the Collegiate National Championship in Lubbock, Texas; the Age Group, Elite and Sprint National Championships in Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and the Junior Triathlon Festival in San Diego.

As an official associate partner, VolunteerLocal will provide a system that allows potential volunteers to browse available shifts and choose their activity. Event organisers have instant access to all their volunteers and the demographic information collected. Additional features allow event coordinators to check-in volunteers and even shift volunteers to new opportunities.

"Volunteers are the backbone of our national events, and VolunteerLocal’s system allows us to easily manage a large volunteer force," said Jeff Dyrek, USAT’s National Events Director. "Partnering with VolunteerLocal enhances the lines of communication between volunteers and the USAT staff well in advance of an event."

"We’re excited to formalise our relationship with USA Triathlon and to build on the success we’ve had with events like the Hy-Vee Triathlon and USAT Collegiate National Championship in recent years," said VolunteerLocal President Geoff Wood.

"VolunteerLocal has proven its benefit as a management and recruiting tool for volunteers, and this partnership with USA Triathlon will only make that benefit to event organisers even greater."
