Following its contract extension with run software specialist siliconcoach, USA Triathlon (USAT) and its National Team Program have extended their partnership with Colorado Springs-based Global Sport Technology.
This will provide US Olympic hopefuls with important swim stroke analysis over the course of a new two-year sponsorship renewal under which Global Sport Technology is recognised as an official supplier of the USA Triathlon National Team Program through to 31 December 2011.
As a key component of the sponsorship, Global Sport Technology will provide SwiMetrics swim stroke analysis for 31 members of the USAT National Team Program up to four times per year. SwiMetrics measures and records a swimmer’s velocity at every point in the swimming stroke and can be a valuable tool in improving swim technique.
Additionally, USAT High Performance Team members will be eligible for a 20% discount on purchases made through Global Sport Technology.
"SwiMetrics stroke analysis has been invaluable for our National Team Program, and we look forward to the continued benefits of working with Global Sport Technology," said Scott Schnitzspahn, USAT’s Sport Performance Director. "Many of our athletes have made marked improvements in their stroke efficiency with the help of this analysis and their coaches."
"We’ve enjoyed our work with the USA Triathlon National Team Program, and we are excited to extend this partnership," said Genadijus Sokolovas, Ph.D., CEO of Global Sport Technology. "Our analysis gives swimmers of all types new insight into the strengths and weaknesses of their stroke, and it has been very beneficial to a number of elite triathletes."
Global Sport Technology’s mission is to ‘provide service, research and educational support to our customers, build rehabilitation and training equipment as well as training software to reach quality in life and sport.’
The company’s SwiMetrics proprietary equipment and software measures and records the instantaneous velocity (in meters per second) at specific points in the swimming stroke. This data is then available on CD to view and study at any time.
By measuring, recording and showing real-time swimming velocity 60 times per second at every point in the swimming cycle, the swimmer and coach can easily and quickly learn swimming strengths and weaknesses. Because these minute measurements are carefully recorded and demonstrated via underwater video, the user can work on improving his or her stroke based on objective analysis.
