USAT sets qualifiers for 2011 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships

With the recent addition of the 2011 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships to the multisport world championship schedule, USA Triathlon (USAT) has announced the Team USA qualifying races for this off-road triathlon event.

The inaugural ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships, slated for 30 April 2011, in Extremadura, Spain, will give both age group and elite athletes the chance to compete for off-road world titles. Much like XTERRA events, cross triathlon features hilly and technical off-road legs on both the bike and run.

The four qualifying events for the 2011 cross triathlon world championships are:
• 2010 XTERRA South Central Championship, 23 May 2010, Waco, Texas
• 2010 XTERRA East Championship, 20 June 2010, Richmond, Virginia
• 2010 XTERRA Mountain Championship, 17 July 2010, Avon, Colorado
• 2010 Scott Tinley Adventures (Off-road Extreme Triathlon), 3 October 2010, San Luis Obispo, California

The top five spots per age group (with roll down to 10th place after the age-up rule) at each race will earn a spot on Team USA. More information on the Team USA qualification process is available on usatriathlon.org. Questions can be emailed to USA Triathlon’s Team USA department at teamusa@usatriathlon.org.
