While the triathlon season in the upper Midwest has ended, planning for the 2012 race season starts now for Minnesota’s endurance athletes. OptumHealth Performance has now therefore announced the schedule for its 2012 OptumHealth Performance Triathlon Series – ‘three triathlons offering athletes of all levels an opportunity to compete in some of the best triathlon courses in Minnesota.’
Novice to elite triathletes can now register for the OptumHealth Performance Series. Early-bird registration rates (through to 31 December 2011) are available. Athletes who register for all three OptumHealth Performance Series events by 1 February 2012, will receive a free OptumHealth Performance Series TYR backpack.
“From packet pickup to the finish line, triathletes at our events get a first-class experience,” said Kris Swarthout, Events Director and OptumHealth Performance coach. “Our races provide a big event feel with signage, flags, course marshals, and police and medical staff to ensure safety. After each race, athletes receive their personal split times immediately, and have access to free massages and our coaching staff to talk about their race performance.”
Current OptumHealth Performance-coached clients and All Access Pass members who register for the events receive two VIP credentials for race days. OptumHealth Performance Series VIPs receive reserved, front-row parking at each event, food vouchers and access to a VIP tent and reception areas.
The three USA Triathlon-sanctioned events, presented by OptumHealth Performance are:
Race 1: Manitou Triathlon
Sunday 10 June 2012 – Ramsey County Beach in White Bear Lake
Since 1990, the Manitou Triathlon has been a season opener for novice to elite triathletes. This sprint distance triathlon, with its flat course, is relatively ‘easy’ for novice triathletes, while those more experienced can focus on speed. The Manitou Triathlon was voted Minnesota’s best run course by Minnesota Tri News readers in 2010.
