GU Energy introduces Peanut Butter and Peppermint Stick gels

GU Energy Labs, creator of the original sports energy gel, has released two new gel flavour variants: Peanut Butter and Peppermint Stick. Peanut Butter GU, made with natural crushed peanuts, offers athletes a savoury alternative to the vastly sweet dominated gel landscape, while Peppermint Stick GU provides a ‘crisp zing of minty-fresh fuel’.

Both new flavours of GU contain GU’s proprietary Amino Blend (Leucine, Valine, Histidine, Isoleucine) as well as Potassium, Vitamin C and Vitamin E and a touch of Herbal Blend (Chamomile and Ginger).

Both new flavours are also caffeine-free and serve up GU’s optimal mix of complex and simple carbohydrates, branched-chain amino acids and antioxidants that are essential for sustained energy and enhanced recovery.

“The introduction of a Peanut Butter GU is a long awaited and greatly satisfying nutty addition to our line-up, while Peppermint Stick is a fun and flavourful ode to GU’s tradition of celebrating the winter season,” said Brooke Kennedy, GU’s Marketing Manager.

“Our product design team has done an excellent job consistently pushing the limits of GU flavour profiles in an effort to deliver athletes the highest-quality performance nutrition products.”

GU Peanut Butter will retail for MSRP US$1.35 per packet / US$32.40 per 24-pack, while GU Peppermint Stick will exclusively be available in an eight-pack, with an MSRP of US$10.80. The flavours will be available for purchase starting on 4 November 2011 at specialty sports retailers and at store.guenergy.com.
