New Portofino Sunset Tri Series for Florida

Multisport Performance Institute (MPI), a leading US provider of multisport coaching, training camps, clinics, specialized services and events, has added the Portofino Sunset Tri Series to its calendar of races.

MPI’s inaugural Portofino Sunset Tri Series is a 4 race series that kicks off on Thursday, June 23rd. Subsequent races will take place on Thursday evenings through the summer – on July 21st, August 4th and August 18th. All races will be held at the Portofino Island Resort, on Pensacola Beach, Florida with a start time of 6:30pm.

Since the inception of the sport of triathlon, races have typically been held on weekends. The Portofino Sunset Tri Series offers a new and unique opportunity for triathletes to add additional races to their existing calendar, with evening races during the week. The races are a Super Sprint distance, comprised of a 300 yard swim, a 7.5 mile bike ride, and a 1.5 mile run. The Portofino Sunset Tri Series is designed for triathletes of all experience levels. All series races will be sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT).

Multisport Performance Institute provides a diverse spectrum of services uniquely structured for both novice and experienced multisport athletes. Established in 2010, MPI offers 3 levels of multisport coaching plans, Single Day, Multi Day, and Long Course training camps and clinics, and Paratriathlon training in conjunction with the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF).

MPI also provides specialty services in swim analysis, F.I.S.T. certified bike fitting and individualized multisport coaching.

Multisport Performance Institute produces a series of youth and adult races and events including the highly successful Maritime DeLuna Du kids duathlon, the Jubilee Kid’s Triathlon, the Sea Turtle Tri and now the Portofino Sunset Tri Series. TeamMPI’s coaches, Mark Sortino and John Murray, are USA Triathlon Certified and have more than 19 years of combined triathlon racing and training experience, including the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

Mark Sortino, CEO of TeamMPI said “We’re excited to offer the Portofino Sunset Tri Series to triathletes in the Pensacola area. We think the unique combination of the Super Sprint distance, and Thursday evening racing, will make this an extremely exciting and competitive race series.”

John Murray, TeamMPI’s President added “Presenting an opportunity for triathletes to participate in a mid-week race, is a great way for competitors of all skill levels to tune their racing abilities. It’s another way for MPI to help triathletes get smarter, stronger, and faster!”
