Polar has integrated social media sharing into polarpersonaltrainer.com its web service to track training and analyse results in detail. Users can now share their training experience with their Facebook friends by simply clicking the new share button on the training session overview.
According to Polar, adding this new social aspect to a training regime can be beneficial. The company notes that ‘you can keep your friends up-to-date on your activities and get their advice on how to further improve your training. Some of your friends might get encouraged and join you the next time you go for a ride or attend a group exercise class. In addition, the share button gives athletes an easy way to share their training data with their coaches.’
Besides basic training data, users can share, with some Polar training computers, heart rate curve, time in different heart rate zones and lap times. With the new Polar RCX5 users can also share the map view and enable friends to see training data at any point on the route.
In addition to Facebook, training data can also be shared on Twitter and other social media services.
