ASICS, the global sports apparel and run shoe brand, has taken on a key sponsorship role at TriStar Rio de Janeiro, which is scheduled to take place on 14 October 2012.
“ASICS is extremely proud to add TriStar Brazil to its circuit of sponsored sporting events,” said ASICS Brazil Marketing Manager, Andrea Longhi. “We have a wide range of materials and technology for the triathletes. In addition, we have a great team of triathletes [using our products], which shows our dedication to the sport. It is therefore essential to be together at TriStar Brazil.”
Rio de Janeiro will stage the inaugural edition of the TriStar format in Brazil, and joins the international series held across 15 different destinations in the world. TriStar has now reached as far afield as Monaco, France, the US, Spain, UK, Germany, Austria, Estonia, the Caribbean and Croatia. As the TriStar team points out, ‘triathlon is rapidly growing and Star Events is offering something unique to the athletes worldwide in the best destinations.’
The first edition of the TriStar format in Brazil, continues this internationalisation of the TriStar brand. The addition of ASICS as a sponsor is notable – given the company’s historic focus on aligning with running events in particular. Triathlon is seen as a key growth area for ASICS – and the sport broadens the company’s expertise in being aligned with major sporting events such as the ING New York Marathon, Tokyo Marathon and Paris Marathon, amongst others.
The ASICS line of apparel and shoes for triathlon includes the ASICS GEL-Noosa TRI 7 shoe. ASICS products are already used by a number of Brazilian triathletes including Reinaldo Colucci, Ana Lidia Borba, Pamela Oliveira, Diogo Sclebin, William Manocchio, Santiago Ascenco and also by team SESI-SP Triathlon.
During the TriStar Rio de Janeiro event, ASICS will set up a special retail zone for participants to review the latest products from the brand in triathlon and other sports.
TriStar Rio de Janeiro (a full weekend of sports and activities) is organized by Star Events South America, and is the result of a partnership between two agencies, ONE International Sport Business and Star Events.
