Wattbike boosts member benefits at Triathlon England

Triathlon England has confirmed a new relationship with Wattbike, the indoor cycle trainer specialist, bringing benefits to English members and triathlon coaches at all levels of the sport.

Wattbike will become a membership benefit provider to Triathlon England, with members receiving a 10% discount on the purchase of a Wattbike, whilst coaches will have the opportunity to enhance their technical knowledge and skills via Wattbike-led triathlon-specific workshops.

Jem Lawson, Chair of Triathlon England, said “We are very pleased to announce this relationship with Wattbike which brings enhanced benefits to all of our members. Wattbike will play a key role in enabling our membership to achieve their own personal triathlon challenges, and support triathlon coaches in delivering high-quality sessions to triathletes in England.”

Ian Wilson, Managing Director for Wattbike, said “This relationship with Triathlon England is a fantastic opportunity for Wattbike to work more closely with both members and coaches of this great sport. Wattbike is the indoor trainer of choice for both elite and amateur triathletes, enabling any rider to perform high quality training sessions and providing an unrivalled level of accurate performance feedback whilst feeling like riding a real bike.”

Wilson added, “Through the relationship, we hope to educate people that not only can the Wattbike improve a triathlete’s cycling, but with the development of correct pedal technique we are finding there are performance gains to be made across all three disciplines. With busy personal and professional lives, high quality training on a Wattbike can also bring about a reduction in overall training time.”

This latest tie-up with Triathlon England follows a recent partnership between Wattbike and Virgin Active. The indoor cycling specialist also recently joined forces with the second Etape Cymru closed road cyclosportive in North Wales to offer participants top training tips and plans ahead of the event on Sunday 9 September 2012.

Wattbike is the indoor cycle trainer of choice for elite athletes, the health and fitness sector and the home fitness market. The founders of Wattbike originally approached British Cycling with the idea to create an indoor cycle trainer that accurately measures a range of high-performance parameters. Six years later the national governing body was satisfied that the Wattbike met their criteria and today the Wattbike remains the first and only indoor cycle trainer to be endorsed by British Cycling.

Wattbike’s on-board computer enables the accurate measurement of 39 performance parameters, including power, heart rate, cadence and speed. Combined with a fully customisable ride setup and the feel of riding a real bike, it provides the user with a highly effective and efficient power-based training solution.

Wattbike also features the Polar View, a unique real-time pedal technique analysis which helps to identify and correct deficiencies in pedal stroke, bringing performance gains to every rider.

Today, Wattbike is used by some of the world’s top cycling federations including Great Britain, Australia, the United States and France, as well as professional teams and elite athletes in all cycling and triathlon disciplines. Other sports have also adopted Wattbike as a cross-training tool and is used by many Premiership football clubs, England Rugby Union, Rugby Football League, Formula One drivers, England Hockey, GB Rowing, Sailing, English Institute of Sport, UK Sport and now Triathlon England.

Under the latest deal, Triathlon England members benefit from a 10% discount on the purchase price of a Wattbike by entering the code ‘TRIENGLAND’ via Wattbike’s online checkout at www.wattbike.com.
