As the London 2012 Olympic Games got under way on Friday, the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and leading US health club industry pioneer, 24 Hour Fitness, confirmed a renewal of their on-going sponsorship agreement. The renewal of 24 Hour Fitness’ partnership with the USOC through to 2016 secures the gym & fitness company as an official sponsor of the USOC. Through to 2016, 24 Hour Fitness will be the Official Fitness Center Sponsor of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Teams for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
As part of the sponsorship renewal, 24 Hour Fitness will:
- Provide support for the High Performance Training Center (HPTC) that will support Team USA for the 2016 Olympic Games – similar to the assistance it provided in the design and outfitting of the training centers at Beijing Normal University and the University of East London, which was officially opened last week;
- Continue to provide US athletes with state-of-the-art equipment at the three US Olympic Training Centers in Chula Vista, California, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Lake Placid, NY;
- Continue to give US Olympic and Paralympic athletes and hopefuls access to 24 Hour Fitness clubs across the country.
“24 Hour Fitness is honoured to share our resources with the USOC to benefit Team USA and renew our partnership, which will provide support, expertise and membership for hundreds of our nation’s athletes leading into the 2014 and 2016 Games,” said Carl Liebert, President and Chief Executive Officer at 24 Hour Fitness.
“As our partnership with the USOC continues to grow and evolve – from Athens and Beijing to Vancouver and London – we are proud to do what we do best for our country’s finest athletes.”
USOC Chief Executive Scott Blackmun added, “24 Hour Fitness has been a valuable contributor to the US Olympic Movement through its sponsorship of the USOC, our NGBs, and its support for our high performance training centres. This continued partnership reflects the company’s commitment to assisting America’s athletes as they pursue their Olympic and Paralympic dreams, as well as its commitment to supporting all Americans with their personal fitness goals. We thank 24 Hour Fitness for its continued support.”
