De Soto Sport, ‘the only company in the world that sells two-piece triathlon wetsuits’, is placing its feet firmly in the one-piece wetsuit market with its T1 Espresso.
Now shipping, the T1 Espresso is one-piece wetsuit with short sleeves and short legs that is made entirely with the beginner and recreational triathlete in mind. According to a release by the company, the T1 Espresso has the six key features for which these triathletes look:
- Inexpensive: an MSRP of US$230.00
- Durable and little maintenance
- Simple to use
- Comfortable and warm
- Aids in floatation, so faster swim times
- Versatile for other water sports such as surfing and water-skiing
“Okay, we concede that there is one advantage of a one-piece wetsuit; it does not take much instruction for a retailer to sell it or for the consumer to use it,” said company founder and designer of the suit, Emilio De Soto.
“In fact the only words in the instruction manual are, ‘Zipper goes in back, brush your teeth, recycle, and have fun’.” De Soto added, “We wanted to create a wetsuit for customers who do not care about millimeters, grams, seat angles, crank arm lengths, transition splits, or spending a lot of money for that matter.
“Speaking of which, it may look like we are selling out and joining the dozens of companies already making one-piece wetsuits, but we are not. At De Soto Sport, we do not want your money, we want your soul.”
Founded by former pro triathlete Emilio De Soto in 1990, San Diego based De Soto Sport Triathlon Company designs, manufactures and sells a complete line of products used in triathlon. De Soto’s technical garments are designed with comfort and style in mind. De Soto also offers a complete line of custom team apparel. All De Soto garments are Made in America.
According to the company, its revolutionary two-piece wetsuit design not only keeps a wearer warmer in cold water, but also helps to correct swimming position, ensuring a swim with more comfort and ‘faster than with any other wetsuit’. Positioned as the only two-piece wetsuit sold in the triathlon market, the T1 is also made GreenGoma a limestone derivative rubber.
