The 2013 Ironman Florida event reportedly sold out in less than a minute this week, a new record for Ironman registration. Ironman Foundation spots for the race also sold out in record time, so the event is now completely full. This rapid sell-out of the popular Ironman Florida event follows a similar trend experienced this time last year when the race sold out in a rapid 16 minutes.
The 2013 Ironman Florida event was also the first to incorporate a new online race registration process. Ironman brand owner World Triathlon Corp (WTC) has implemented a policy that a valid Active.com account is required to register for all North American Ironman events.
Those athletes who registered online for the 2013 Ironman Florida event needed to ensure they had a valid Active.com account prior to embarking upon online registration.
For other Ironman events across North America, athletes can simply visit www.active.com/myactive to create an Active.com account, or to verify a username and password if an existing account is already in place.
Taking place on 2 November 2013, Ironman Florida is set in Panama Beach, Florida, which was chosen for its pristine beaches and its moderate autumn/fall temperatures. The race includes a two-loop swim, a flat, one-loop bike course and a two-loop run through the scenic St Andrew’s State Park.
