Ironman Wisconsin 2013 fills in just nine hours

General entry for Ironman Wisconsin 2013 presented by Trek filled in just nine hours this week. Limited Ironman Foundation slots are still available for the IM Wisconsin 2013 event, giving athletes the opportunity to combine philanthropy with their journey to become an Ironman.

Earlier this week, the Ironman Foundation Community Fund continued to leave behind the Ironman legacy by providing US$65,000 in grant funding to non-profit groups in the Greater Madison, Wisconsin, community.

Since its inception in 2003, The Ironman Foundation has made philanthropic contributions of more than US$10 million to numerous non-profit beneficiaries worldwide. The Ironman Foundation is a US registered 501(c)(3) body and provides an opportunity for Ironman athletes to help those in the communities that support Ironman events.

Considered one of the most recognizable Ironman events in North America, Ironman Wisconsin took place for the 11th time last Sunday.

As the first 2013 Ironman World Championship qualifier, Ironman Wisconsin has always been an intense day for athletes vying for a Kona slot, and typically leaves the nearly 45,000 spectators in suspense as they watch their loved ones cross the finish line.

“Ironman Wisconsin has proven over time to be a very challenging race,” said Race Director Ryan Richards. “The atmosphere surrounding the event and all the spectators brings out the best in the athletes and produce great results within the divisions.”

The popularity of the race became abundantly clear when the race filled in record time on Monday.
