Ahead of this year’s Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawai’i, on 13 October 2012, Ironman brand owner World Triathlon Corp (WTC) has unveiled a new series – Ali’i Drive – which debuted last week via YouTube.
Ironman notes that these much-anticipated ‘webisodes’ will go beyond the usual media interviews and standard athletes bios, ‘telling the stories of the top pros in a way that can only be revealed from within.’
The Ali’i Drive YouTube series is also about letting the public in on what makes some of the world’s best endurance athletes tick. It will explore how pro Ironman athletes prepare mentally and physically while striving for a shot at winning the coveted Ironman World Championship.
Some highlights from the season opener, ‘Pressure’, include Chris McCormack, Craig Alexander and Andy Potts talking about the unique pressures of parenthood; and Rachel Joyce and Meredith Kessler discuss the risks of putting a career aside to pursue sport.
The series airs twice weekly on Ironman’s official YouTube channel with a total of 10 episodes.
