Midnight Monday deadline for Vachery Triathlon entry!

Organisers of The Vachery Triathlon Festival have reportedly been overwhelmed by the interest in the first year event, which takes place just outside London during the August Bank Holiday weekend. “We’ve exceeded our first year target for entries and we’re still answering emails and taking telephone calls,” said race organiser Mark Davis. “We’re closing entries at midnight on Monday 20 August, a few days earlier than planned, to compile race starter lists and make sure we deliver the top quality event our entrants and supporters deserve.”

The festival organisers have meanwhile been working with Triathlon England to enhance the Sunday 26 August race schedule to include Youth (15-16 yrs) and Junior (17-19yrs ) races.

The most vital ingredients for a successful race are location, location, location says Davis, the originator of the Vachery Triathlon Festival, a weekend of road and cross triathlon racing, with camping and fun activities for kids of all ages.

Held on 25-27 August 2012 in Cranleigh, Surrey, the Vachery Estate is a great location that taps into the large body of UK triathletes in the London and South East area. The venue is less than 30 minutes from the M3, M23 and M25 motorways and is situated right in the middle of the British Triathlon Federation’s South East region, with the country’s highest concentration of triathlon participation.

The venue for the festival’s swim action is Vachery Pond, a spring fed private reservoir. Hidden from view by a thick curtain of trees it provides an unexpected panorama of open water that disappears into the distance almost 1K away.
