VOS Media & FACE Partnership have announced a partnership between The London Bike Show and the Nocturne Series of bike racing, which will see a version of the IG London Nocturne taking place at the 2013 show.
The London Bike Show organisers have reported substantial growth year-on-year since the event’s original launch in 2011. This latest partnership is seen as the beginning of the next stage in the development of the show. VOS Media is keen to build on the show’s position as ‘London’s leading bike show’, and have ambitions to develop the show further into the UK’s premier cycling event, and a date in every cyclist’s diary.
The London Bike Show organisers note that the event attracted over 85,000 visitors in 2012 and over 150 exhibitors, including many of the UK’s major brands and distributors. The 2013 event takes place on 17-20 January 2013.
Integrating the IG London Nocturne will add a new dimension to the offering – with fast paced, competitive racing expected to provide a compelling experience for spectators, participants, exhibitors and sponsors.
The concept for the Nocturne events was developed by Rapha Condor and FACE Partnership in 2007, with the inaugural Smithfield Nocturne. The race has returned to Smithfield Market in London each year since, and during 2009 and 2010 also visited Edinburgh, Manchester and Blackpool.
Since 2011 only the London event has been hosted and has been sponsored by IG Markets to become the IG London Nocturne. The 2012 race took place at Smithfield Market and attracted over 12,000 spectators. FACE Partnership now looks after the development of the Nocturne concept in the UK and internationally.
The Nocturne format generates a unique atmosphere around a creative race programme, which incorporates an Elite Criterium that features British and international professional cyclists.
The 2013 race programme will run over the four days of the show, and will include a Media/Industry race, a Corporate City race, the Elite Criterium, a Women’s Elite Criterium and Youth racing. The Folding Bike and Penny Farthing races, which have become synonymous of the Nocturne Series over the years, will also be taking place at the event.
