Triathletes get their kit off for charity!

Female members of the Absolute Triathlon Club in Nottingham, UK, have taken time out from training to pose for a very special charity calendar. The Karen Green Foundation Charity Calendar 2013 features nine athletes of varying ages going ‘absolutely starkers’ as they pose for the camera.

The Karen Green Foundation is a Nottingham based charity working to raise funds for organisations and individuals researching, treating and fighting leukaemia and cancers of the blood. The girls were inspired to do the calendar by triathlete and club member Mick Green who set up the charity earlier this year in memory of his wife Karen who bravely lost her battle to Leukaemia in July 2011.

“He took a heart breaking situation, and turned it into something positive that will help so many people”, explained Cayci Lewis, 29, who initiated the calendar.

“We wanted to support the charity and I began thinking of ways to help. I came up with the idea of a calendar and the girls at the club were all fantastic and despite initial reservations they all jumped straight in!” added Cayci.

The calendar has a triathlon theme; and bikes and swim gear are included in the pictures.

“I wanted to do something fun and quirky, but also tasteful and artistic, and we have definitely achieved it,” continued Cayci. “I am really grateful to Debbie from Deborah Faulkner Photography who donated her time and expertise to help us and to Steve Lloyd of Absolute Triathlon Coaching and Mick Green who paid for the production of the calendar.

“This means that every penny of the £10 selling price goes to the Foundation. I had a vision of what the calendar would be like when finished, and with everyone’s help it is even better than I had hoped for.”

Mick Green, founder and trustee of the charity, said “The calendar is amazing; Cayci has done a great job. I really appreciate the help of everyone who got involved, especially our daring models Catriona Wynne, Vicki Watson, Ruth Willott, Lisa Coneyworth, Louise George, Pamela Dutton, Vanessa Fletcher, Julie Whaley and of course Cayci.”

Mick, 46 from Calverton, was one of 70 Absolute Triathlon Club members who took part in the Outlaw Triathlon this year and between them raised £18,000.

The calendar can be purchased for £10 at karengreenfoundation.com. All proceeds go directly to help leukaemia suffers and their families.
