Tyler Butterfield goes long with Zone3

Tyler Butterfield, the two-time Olympian triathlete from Bermuda, has a new partnership with British wetsuit brand, Zone3. Butterfield has entered this partnership with ‘confidence and excitement in the innovative UK brand through his rigorous testing and training in the wetsuits that will propel him through the 2014 and 2015 racing seasons.’

2014 marks an exciting year for both Tyler Butterfield and Zone3. As Tyler furthers his long-course triathlon career and prepares for the Commonwealth Games, Zone3 begins its worldwide expansion. Zone3 was eager to find a perfect fit for the expansion, and it didn’t take long to form the partnership with Butterfield.

Zone3 taking on the world!

“We are extremely excited to be sponsoring Tyler over the next two years”, said James Lock, Founder and CEO of Zone3. “After seven years of research and development and five consecutive years of award winning reviews, we believe that we have the best product available on the market. It is an honour to give an athlete of Tyler’s calibre the opportunity to swim in our wetsuits.

“The signing of this stellar athlete represents another significant step for Zone3 as we continue our expansion worldwide.”

Zone3 has achieved solid reviews based on the ‘speed, comfort, price point and innovation’ offering up through its product range. The brand launched in 2009 after years of testing and development by elite athletes at Loughborough University; one of Europe’s leading sports research facilities.

“I am thrilled to work with Zone3 – one of the fastest wetsuits in the world,” said Butterfield. “They thought of every detail with their top model, the Victory D. Not only is it fast in the water, but it also speeds up transition time with the easy sleeve and leg release.

“The swim is a very critical component because if you miss the top group, the race can be over from the start. Every second matters, and that is why I am confident to be partnering with Zone3.”

Tyler Butterfield is a native of Bermuda with dual citizenship in Bermuda and the United States. Formerly, Butterfield focused on Olympic distance racing through the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, did a stint on the European cycling circuit and returned to triathlon in both long and short-course races with multiple podium finishes.

After successfully competing in his second Olympic Games at London 2012, in 2013, Butterfield switched his focus back to long-course racing. He has since had four long course podium finishes and closed out of the 2013 season with a seventh place finish at the Ironman World Championships.

Zone3 was started by elite athlete James Lock in 2007 to support his triathlon career. With an in depth knowledge of the triathlon world, Lock looked to design a range of products that would not only be able to sell and fund the costs of competing internationally but also products that would increase his performance.

Ultimately, Zone3 is a company built with the athlete in mind right from the very start. Zone3 doesn’t only use sports technology and lab testing but, more importantly, the brand has also conducted ‘thousands of real life testing sessions’ by carefully listen to customers’ feedback to further improve the range.
