Uncertainty remains over Challenge Family Americas events as Rev3 returns for 2016

Rev3 in the sand

ATP (All Things Possible) Productions Inc (ATP), the parent company of Revolution3 Triathlon (Rev3), has reissued a statement announcing that it will return to producing races under the Rev3 brand in 2016.

The announcement that Rev3 is ‘back in blue’ in 2016 casts uncertainty on the future of certain Challenge Family Americas events. It comes 12 months after Challenge Family and Rev3 confirmed a merger-partnership – and the expansion of the Challenge Family USA race calendar in 2015.

The Rev3 website lists the following events, which will take place under the Rev3 brand in 2016:

  • May 14-15: Rev3 Knoxville, Tennessee
  • June 4-5: Rev3 Quassy, Connecticut
  • Date TBC, Rev3 Williamsburg, Virginia
  • August 7: Rev3 Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania
  • August 28: Rev3 Maine
  • September 11: Rev3 Cedar Point, Ohio

The majority of these 2016 Rev3 events were Challenge Family branded in 2015.

Charlie Patten at Rev3 told triathlonbusiness.com “At this point, we do not have a formal statement about the move back to Rev3, other then we are excited to be ‘back in blue’. As we wrap up some behind the scenes issues, we will make another announcement.”

In the coming days, it is hoped that formal statements from Rev3 and Challenge Family will be issued to help clarify the situation.

Rev3 races will exist under the parent company, ATP (All Things Possible) Productions (ATP). ATP is owned by Charlie Patten and operated by President Eric Opdyke. The Rev3 release adds that Patten and Opdyke have partnered to build Revolution3 since the event brand’s formation in 2008.

(Both Charlie and Eric have been directors of Challenge Family Americas in 2015.)

In the Rev3 release, Charlie Patten, CEO of ATP, said “I am beyond excited to announce that Rev3 will be back and better than ever in 2016. We under estimated the power of the all American Rev3 brand and our entire crew is itching to be – Back In Blue!”

He continued, “We believe that our staff is one of the best in the industry at producing races and they are all full of ideas that will be implemented into the event experience. We cannot wait to welcome athletes back to The Revolution in 2016!”

As the release from the re-emerged Rev3 states, ‘the races will have the same attention to quality and detail that athletes have come to expect from the Rev3 race series.’

The release about the re-emerged Rev3 continues….

Family-friendly race locations and events, free finish line photos, the family finish line, and safe, well-marked courses are a few of the features that Rev3 has become known for. Plus, the return of Rev3 ‘Made in America’ race series tour will have a few new surprises guaranteed to create a best-in-class race experience for athletes and their families.

Rev3 will focus on race venues across the east coast region in many of the same markets where the brand was previously active, in 2014.

Additionally, ATP will outsource race production services for other event directors. ATP provides a full range of services to race directors including race planning, race directing, t-shirt printing, media printing, graphic design, and equipment rental. ATP will focus on being a full event production services company in the endurance space. Event promoters can utilize ATP Productions as a turn-key provider of key event services.

“We feel strongly we have the best event team in our industry,” said Eric Opdyke. “Whether we are producing races under the Rev3 brand or for others, we can assure our customers they will get a tremendous product and service. We have a 20,000 square foot warehouse with enough equipment for the largest events and enough ‘toys’ to handle the toughest jobs.”

Registration for some 2016 events will open in October and will include Kids, Sprint, Olympic, Half and Full distance triathlon events.

More details will be announced in the coming days/weeks as they become available.
