The Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh Marathon and Half Marathon have announced Humana, a leading health and well-being company, as the new title partner of the 2017 events. Humana is currently title sponsor of four other Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series races, including New Orleans, Dallas, Chicago and San Antonio. The Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh race events return on the weekend of 1-2 April 2017.
“Humana is honoured to be the title sponsor of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh Marathon & ½ Marathon,” said Jennifer Bazante, Enterprise Vice President of Marketing for Humana. “We believe that great things are ahead of you when your health is ready for them, and this event is just another step in the right direction for everyone involved, no matter their age, stage in life or fitness level.
“We understand the commitment it takes to prepare for these races, and we couldn’t be prouder of each and every participant.”
In addition to its focus on personal wellness for people at every age and stage, Humana aims to simplify healthcare and to make it easier for people to achieve their best health. As title sponsor, Humana will have a branded mile on course as well as an interactive footprint at the Health & Fitness Expo.
“Working with Humana is a natural fit since we share the same commitment to living a healthy and active lifestyle for all ages,” said John Smith, Senior Vice President of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. “Not only will Humana have a presence at our Health & Fitness Expo, but Humana associates will also be on course race weekend either running or volunteering and cheering participants from their Humana mile. We look forward to elevating the race weekend runner experience even more with this partnership.”
The marathon and half marathon will start on Fayetteville Street and will tour charming neighbourhoods and scenic parks, among other attractions. In Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion, participants will be greeted by the sounds of live entertainment, along with spectators and cheerleading teams lining the route to motivate runners to the finish line. Upon finishing just outside Red Hat Amphitheater, participants are invited to relax and celebrate with family and friends at the post race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series headlined by Cracker.
In 2016, Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Raleigh introduced two days of racing with the 5K on Saturday, which gave participants the opportunity to earn a special Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s individual finisher medal. In 2017, the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll 5K will return allowing participants to once again complete the Remix Challenge.
A complimentary Health & Fitness Expo kicks off race weekend on Friday 31 March from 15:00 to 19:00 local time; and Saturday 1 April from 10:00 to 17:00 at the Raleigh Convention Center. The expo will have ‘numerous vendors featuring the latest in running gear, nutrition and training’.
