Ironman Official Coaching Partners on board
08/03/2010
World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) has made its selection of official Ironman coaching partners. With agreements through to 2012, Troy Jacobson and Carmichael Training Systems (CTS) will now serve as Official Coaches for all athletes participating in the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 event series.
Troy Jacobson, a multiple Ironman finisher with sub 9-hour credentials, understands the needs and challenges of Ironman competitors varying in age and fitness level. Well known for his expansive and successful line of Spinervals DVDs and as the Endurance Coach of Lifetime Fitness, Jacobson also offers online coaching, training camps, workshops and webinars for both novices and seasoned athletes alike.
Exclusively available to all Ironman and Ironman 70.3 athletes, Jacobson will offer an enhanced library of training tips in short video form and will host camps at the following Ironman events: Ford Ironman Lake Placid, Ford Ironman Louisville, Ford Ironman Wisconsin and Ford Ironman Arizona. Jacobson will also serve as the official coach of Ironman’s Executive Challenge programme.
Founded by Chris Carmichael, CTS is the coaching authority trusted by current Ironman World Champion Craig Alexander and two-time Ironman World Champion Normann Stadler. Over the past 10 years, CTS has improved the performances of thousands of time-crunched, age-group triathletes as well as Ironman champions Tim DeBoom, Peter Reid and Heather Gollnick.
CTS will offer its industry-leading, full-service coaching packages with coaches who have direct Ironman race experience, as well as hosting four official Ironman Training Camps for athletes competing at the following 2010 events: Ford Ironman Louisville, Ford Ironman Wisconsin, Ford Ironman Arizona and Ford Ironman Florida.
CTS camps feature low coach/athlete ratios, top-shelf amenities and proven coaching expertise; and exclusive to CTS, athletes who participate in a camp will receive an entry into the race associated with that camp. In 2011, CTS will hold camps for all Ironman events in the continental US, and some events in the Ironman 70.3 series.
Andy Giancola, Director of Sponsorship and Licensing for WTC said, “Ironman is pleased to welcome Coach Troy and CTS to our coaching roster. As respected leaders in the multisport industry, we know they will play a vital role in helping athletes see greater performance as well as bring a new set of expertise to the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 event brands. We look forward to working with both teams in the years ahead.”
