Pushing into recreational fitness arena: new Suunto M-Series

22/07/2010

Amer Sports subsidiary Suunto has a new range of heart rate monitors to help consumers look and feel good this summer, with some extra motivation to kick-start regular exercise.

The Suunto M-Series is a major move into the recreational fitness area from the sports instruments brand. Billed as a much-anticipated range of easy-to-use heart rate monitors and designed to inspire anyone wanting to get active and stay motivated, Suunto’s M-Series monitors are aimed at making workouts easy and fun.

For consumers simply looking to get fit or lose weight, the new device tells users when to train, how long to train for and how hard to train. Taking out any worry about confusing technical jargon or lots of set-up time, the Suunto M-Series is quick and easy to use.

Key features include:

Creating a personal, automatically-updating exercise programme – three targets to choose from: improve fitness, manage weight, free training

Suggesting a workout for the day – shown on the display each morning; based on 7-day programme

Live guidance during your workout – advice on when to work harder or ease down; recovery time recommendation

Summary of what you’ve achieved – including motivational messages

Easy to use – 3 buttons, big and clear display, 9 language options

According to Suunto, the M-Series is the perfect purchase for anyone wanting to change or improve their wellness and lifestyle – both men and women alike. Being able to simply monitor heart rate and calories burned in real-time makes getting fit more interesting and inspiring.

The Suunto M-Series is available in a range of colours including pink, fuchsia, turquoise, silver, gold and black. The language options in the device are English, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Swedish, Finnish and Dutch.

“The Suunto M-Series devices are perfect workout partners for anyone looking for additional motivation and guidance in an easy way,” said Ewa Pulkkinen, Suunto Product Manager. “The M-Series also allows you to remain stylish whilst you get into shape – something that will appeal to a lot of women as well as men. We had test users from 8 different countries and 98% of them found the products easy or very easy to use.”

Users will also be able to add to their workout experience by uploading their workouts and sharing their fitness tips and thoughts with other likeminded people on www.movescount.com, the new online sports community powered by Suunto.

The range consists of the following models:

Suunto M1 – introductory level; real-time guidance; heart rate and calories burned; automatically switches between three different heart rate zones for personal exercise targets; comfortable heart rate belt compatible with most gym cardio equipment
