Quintana Roo signs pro triathlete Kelly Williamson for 2010-11

26/02/2010

Quintana Roo and US pro triathlete Kelly Williamson (née Kelly Handel) have confirmed that Williamson will be riding Quintana Roo bikes for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

“Quintana Roo has been actively involved with triathlon for so many years. They really know the intricacies of the sport. QR has truly done their homework when creating the CD0.1, and the finer points of the bike are amazing. I am psyched to get the opportunity to partner with them for 2010 and beyond,” said Williamson.

“The technology and testing behind the CD 0.1 is second to none, and when I step up to the Ironman distance this year , I will need all of those technological advantages,” Williamson added.
Williamson's first race in 2010 will be Ironman 70.3 California, where she will compete on the 2010 Quintana Roo high modulus CD 0.1. She will train on the Split R, Quintana Roo's bicycle with traditional road geometry. Williamson will also be focusing on Ironman Coeur D'Alene in June which will be her full Ironman distance debut.

American Bicycle Group manufactures bikes under the brand names Quintana Roo, Litespeed and Merlin.

Chris Hewings, Sales & Marketing Director for American Bicycle Group, said, “We've been watching Kelly's results for the past year and jumped at the chance to sign her up as a Quintana Roo athlete for 2010. Kelly is a great all-rounder who performed at a high level consistently throughout 2009. We're expecting big things from her this year as she focuses on Ironman distance racing.”
